This class is an extension of the class called Patterns: Patterns in Math Multiples/Multiplication Tables. It is recommended that learners take that class first. This class is a more complex pattern seeking class. Students will go beyond multiples to find patterns in math, using the same interactive 100 chart, but discovering patterns that are not as obvious. Students will attempt to solve the question of what comes next in a series of numbers and why. They will practice explaining their mathematical thinking and communciation by describing why a number would come next in a pattern. If time permits, students can share their own mathematical patterns with the group and explain them.
The teacher is a certified GATE teacher and specializes in higher level thinking activities in which students go beyond facts to analyze and assess their own thinking processes and learning.
An interactive 100 chart will be used in class. If the learner is interested in patterns, I recommend finding an interactive 100 chart on line to practice patterns on their own.
