Students will need to provide their own materials to make their insect hotel. All materials can be found in nature for around the house, there is no need to purchase items. A list below give a general idea of the materials that can be used. Additional ideas will be shared in class as well.

Old roofing tiles
Bricks, preferably those with holes through them
Old logs
Bark
Pine cones

Hollow bamboo canes
Dead hollow stems cut from shrubs and herbaceous plants
A sheet of roofing felt
Straw/hay

Rocks
Toilet paper rolls

Whatever else you can find - preferably natural materials or recyclables
