In Ms. Kim's ongoing phonics club, each week your learner will learn about a different multi-syllable topic in a fun, interactive and engaging way such as using charts, graphic organizers, reading, writing, and playing games. Learners will learn what an open/closed syllable is. Learners will be introduced to vowel markings (breve/macron). Learners will learn different syllable patterns (VCCV, V/CV, VC/V). Learners will learn syllables ending with le. Learners with learn that vowel y sound changes in two syllable words. Learners will learn rules on how to divide syllables patterns. Learners will learn vowel team syllables. Learners will learn about some prefix and suffixes. Learners will practice decoding, blend, write and read multi-syllable words.
I have a master's degree in education (M.S. Ed). I've received state certifications in Early Childhood Education (Birth-2) and Students with Disabilities (Grades 1-6) Over 20 year's experience in elementary education especially learners from ages 5-8. I have a Classroom Educator Level Certificate in Orton Gillingham Reading Approach to help learners with dyslexia however it can benefit all learners.

Each week, I will upload an activity packet that goes along with the class. (OPTIONAL) All worksheets and supplies are optional however to maximize the learning environment the learner should have the following supplies: Depending on the learner and their reading need: -Paper, notebook, dry erase board -Pencils, crayons/colored pencils/markers, dry erase board markers ***If you don’t have access to a printer: -Your learner can use their own notebook, loose paper, dry erase board with dry erase markers. -Use the annotation on Zoom. (OPTIONAL SUGGESTION) When we use a graphic organizer in class, I would suggest using sheet protectors because it would be easier for your learner to write and erase using dry eraser marker instead of having to print multiple copies of the graphic organizer or any worksheets. Permanent markers will not work well and will ruin your sheet protectors.
