This ongoing course covers long division. Learners should be familiar with the concept of division and know some of the multiplication facts to 12. They may use a multiplication table which I will provide. It is ongoing, so you may join/leave any week. Each week we have different long division problems. We start off with a few 2-digit problems and then ease into 3-digit problems. I always show an example first. We then take turns solving problems. After we have completed problems together, we then work independently on the worksheet (which is sent before class but to be done during class). We then review the worksheet together and check our answers. My classes are interactive and fun. I like to engage the learners and we all problem solve together, although it is acceptable to not want a turn. I use fun animated PowerPoint slides during my lessons. I always encourage learner interaction and I check in occasionally with a thumb's up to make sure there are no questions before we proceed. I will send out worksheets to be printed each week. Learners should bring extra paper and a pencil to class. I look forward to having your learner in class! Hello! My name is Erin Howard. I love teaching young learners. My passion is to help your young learner gain the knowledge and confidence in their basic math skills. My math classes focus on skills such as solving word problems, learning math fact families, place value, telling time, geometry, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
I have my bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College. I have owned a home daycare, privately tutored students in math, and was a teaching assistant in college. I have taught over 8,000 classes online.
My goal is to bring fun, excitement, and passion into my classroom. It is important for young learners to be engaged, actively participate, and enjoy learning. This builds the foundation of how they will view their journey for knowledge in the future. I know I have accomplished this goal when my students continue to return to my classroom, and I see their personal improvement and how proud they are of their progress.
Outside of work, I am a mother of five children, and I have three grandchildren. My children are my pride and joy. My youngest two children are twins. They are nineteen years old and they are sophomores in college. We enjoy cooking, baking, playing with our dog, watching movies, shopping, and taking trips to visit new places.
