During these one to one sessions, I will first work with the student to assess their strengths and weakness, then spend time in each session addressing both. Topics may include sentence structure, essay writing, grammar, thesis statements, citations, and drafting, to name a few. If there are specific goals that either the student or parent wants to accomplish, we can work through those as well. Each session will include writing exercises as well as immediate feedback. Each session will be live and an ongoing discussion between the student and I. Through years of experience, I have found that is imperative to continue building on a writer's strengths and confidence while also practicing and strengthening their needs. It is a delicate balance, and one that is best addressed in a one to one setting.
