In this ongoing class, students will engage in purposeful math computations that are solved mentally.  The ability for students to solve equations quickly frees up a lot of working memory allowing students to solve more complicated math problems.  The problems in number talks are designed to elicit strategies that focus on number relationships.  Students are presented with math problems and are expected to solve them accurately.  They are then asked to share and defend their solutions and strategies.   I will use a digital whiteboard to record students' solutions.  The visual representations will allow students to learn from each other.     Number talks are highly engaging and a fun way to develop strong math skills.  The classroom is an encouraging space where learners will feel comfortable sharing their solutions.
