Paint pouring has taken the world by storm, but pouring with resin and other chemicals is not safe for children to do. For younger learners, even acrylic pouring can be overwhelmingly messy. In this one-time class, your learner will be able to create a painting that looks like it was poured, with safe and accessible materials, and with no further mess than painting normally incurs. I am a homeschooling mom of five kids, ranging in age from ten to nineteen. We are diving into our 6th year of homeschool and we love it. I have a passion for both education and creativity and I love combining the two whenever I can. When I'm not teaching (my kids or someone else's), I run a business based purely on creativity and art. Traveling (and 8 years of formal classes) gave me a handle on the Spanish language. I have a background in general education from 19 years of combined experience teaching in public and charter school settings, as well as tutoring one on one, ESL, and running various camps and activities. My experience ranges from childcare (infant) age all the way through high school age and includes work with neurodiverse and special needs students, as well as students with mental health issues. I have a passion for, and educational background in Graphic Art/Design, however, my degrees are AA in Liberal Studies and a BA in General Studies with a concentration in Psychology. I am also TESOL certified.
All of the supplies you need for this project can be found at Dollar Tree, Walmart, or a similar place. -Canvas - Whatever size you’d like. I recommend a 5x7 or 8x10 -White acrylic paint (washable paint is fine) -2-5 colors of acrylic paint (learner’s choice of colors) - (Washable is fine) -Saran Wrap -Popsicle Sticks -Tin Pan - Big enough for your canvas to fit in. I like the disposable roaster pans from Dollar Tree.
Painting is an inherently messy activity. Please make sure that your learner has a space where they can see our lesson and participate, but also make a bit of a mess without ruining your favorite couch.
