🐾 Summer Social Pet Club for Neurodivergent Learners 🐾

This club is designed to provide a safe, engaging, and structured environment for neurodivergent learners to build social skills, emotional regulation, and confidence—all through the love of animals! Whether members have pets at home or simply adore animals, this club will encourage meaningful social interactions and personal growth. 

🗓️ Weekly Breakdown & Learning Goals
🐶 Week 1: Welcome to the Club!
🎯 Goal: Establish a safe and welcoming space where members introduce themselves and their favorite animals.
🔹 Icebreaker: "If you could be any animal, what would you be?"
🔹 Club expectations and communication styles (e.g., visual schedules, discuss if anyone may need sensory-friendly breaks).

🐱 Week 2: Animal Body Language & Our Own
🎯 Goal: Learn how animals communicate non-verbally and relate it to human body language.
🔹 Practice reading pet body language through pictures and videos.
🔹 Explore how we express emotions without words.

🐹 Week 3: Building Empathy with Pets
🎯 Goal: Understand how taking care of pets fosters empathy and responsibility.
🔹 Share pet care stories or research a favorite animal's needs.
🔹 Role-play different pet-care scenarios.

🦜 Week 4: Social Skills in the Animal World
🎯 Goal: Discover how animals use teamwork and cooperation to survive and thrive.
🔹 Watch videos on animal teamwork (e.g., dolphins, wolves, ants).
🔹 Connect these concepts to human teamwork and friendships.

🐾 Week 5: Understanding Different Sensory Needs
🎯 Goal: Recognize that both pets and people have different sensory preferences.
🔹 Discuss pets that love noise vs. those that prefer quiet (e.g., dogs vs. cats).
🔹 Reflect on personal sensory preferences and how we can support each other.

🐴 Week 6: Trust & Friendship in Animal-Human Bonds
🎯 Goal: Explore how trust is built between animals and humans, and how we can apply that to friendships.
🔹 Watch heartwarming pet rescue stories.
🔹 Role-play ways to build trust in friendships.

🐕 Week 7: Training & Communication with Pets
🎯 Goal: Understand how consistency and clear communication help animals (and humans!) learn.
🔹 Watch basic pet training cues (sit, stay, high five).
🔹 Relate these to human interactions—how can we communicate better?

🦊 Week 8: Storytelling with Animals
🎯 Goal: Use creativity and self-expression through storytelling.
🔹 Share personal pet stories or create fictional ones.
🔹 Draw, write, or act out animal-inspired adventures.

🐘 Week 9: Advocacy & Kindness for Animals & People
🎯 Goal: Encourage kindness, advocacy, and standing up for others.
🔹 Learn about organizations that help animals.
🔹 Discuss ways to support both animals and neurodivergent peers in the community.
