수업 소개
Each week in this art and science club, learners observe a natural object, then record their observations as in a field journal. We draw and write on a printable Nature Journal page, available in our classroom. Watercolor painting is optional. Learners share their knowledge of the week's topic while we work, and ask questions to learn more. This seasonal class is based in the Northern Hemisphere. Upcoming Classes: August 7-11: At The Beach: Sea Shells August 14-18: At The Beach: Mermaid's Purse August 21-25: At The Beach: Shark Teeth August 28- September 1: At The Beach: Blue Crabs September 4-8: Fall Changes: Colorful Leaves What to Expect in Each Class: Club meetings begin with introductions and greetings, and a quick share time (See anything interesting this week?). Then I invite learners to observe a natural object, and we talk about what they notice. Learners are welcome to bring their own natural object to study and share. Next we complete our Nature Journal page info, and spend most of our time drawing and/or painting together. While we create, learners converse and share their work. During class, I use two cameras. The second camera is above my workspace so my hands and drawings are clearly visible. I pace the drawing for the students following along, and offer variations for different ability levels. Class wraps up with sharing time and goodbyes. How Learners Will Interact: Each week’s class features lots of student discussion while we draw. Share time at the end of class gives each student an opportunity to share their work. After class, learners interact with one another by posting pictures of their artworks, and commenting on classmates’ works. I share a Positive Critique technique that gives students an easy way to talk with others about their projects. My Teaching Style: I am a compassionate teacher and I respect student artists’ varying skill levels and communication preferences. Learners may choose to engage in discussions, respond using chat, and/or share their artworks. Learners are encouraged to communicate in a way that is best for them. Art is all about individual expression!
