During this on-going tutoring sessions I will be focusing on the learners needs and goals for reading. Since this is tutoring, not every child needs the same help. With that being said, I would do an evaluation on the student and then the student and I can make goals together about what they can improve on. I will also be doing several reviews to keep the skills they already have sharp and ready to use when needed. For example, when evaluating a student I am listening for reading fluency and word recognition. Beyond listening to them read aloud, I will be evaluating them on reading comprehension and text structure since those skills combined with their verbal skills are very important when being an advanced reader. Not only do students need to be able to pronounce the words they see, but they need to understand them. 
During the tutoring sessions, I will be using short reading passages that focus on different areas. For example, I have specific passages that focus on helping the reader find the main idea. Same for if the student needs to work on identifying the theme of a paragraph. 

Topics Covered- sight words, reading fluency, theme, main idea, inference, context clues, comprehension, tone, author's purpose, characters, point-of-view, and story structure. 

Each tutoring session will be molded to how the student learns best. I like to incorporate several different learning styles while teaching. Most of the materials that will be used during sessions are lecture, slides, flash cards, discussion,  and handouts with reading passages on them. Each week, I will upload any materials that the student will need to have access to during our tutoring based off what they need to work on that week.
