J씨의 비디오 게임 소셜 클럽

This course is a social club for students to meet new friends virtually and talk about topics together.  I found that in teaching my other video game course (“Video Game Music Composition”), students love to have a social space where they can just talk with each other about what they love.  As the teacher, my role will be to facilitate the discussion and bringing new prompts and questions each week to encourage students to open up and share with each other.  Video games will be our foundational topic of discussion, but we will certainly be able to venture out into other topics based on student interest (music? animation? life? nature? narwhals?).  The goal will be for students to develop strong relationships with each other over the recurring class meetings each week.

Week 1 Topic (5/8/21):  Inventory day!  Everyone gets to share their inventory of favorite video game memorabilia from their room (consoles, stacks of games, stuffed animals, posters, etc).

Week 2 Topic (5/15/21): Suggestion day!  What is a video game that no one in the club has played before but you would highly recommend?  Come with some great ideas to share!

Week 3 Topic (5/22/21):  Photo day!  Share one of your favorite screen shots from a video game that you have taken while playing (this is easy for Nintendo Switch users, but we will find a way for other users to participate).

Week 4 Topic (5/29/21):  Talent show!  What is a way for you to showcase your video game-related talents?  Can you play the Mario theme on an instrument?  Have you created animations or video games of your own?  How about any artwork or Lego builds of your favorite characters?  Come ready for a great performance!
