Welcome to our Montessori Sensorial class for young learners! This program is designed for children to focus on developing their five senses along with the associated vocabulary. Through engaging and interactive activities, children will learn to discriminate between different attributes and refine their sensory perceptions, setting the foundation for future learning.

In this class, students will explore the world through their five senses: touch, taste, smell, hearing, and sight. The aim is to help children develop sensory awareness and the vocabulary to describe their experiences. This foundational skill set is crucial for their cognitive and linguistic development.


Topics Covered

Discrimination Between Attributes: Children will learn to distinguish between various attributes such as size, shape, color, texture, weight and temperature. Activities will involve sorting and categorizing objects based on these attributes.

Develop Sense of Touch: Through hands-on activities, children will explore different textures and temperatures, learning to identify and describe what they feel. Materials like sandpaper, fabrics, and temperature tablets will be used.

Develop Sense of Taste: Taste tests with a variety of foods will help children differentiate between sweet, salty, sour, and bitter flavors. They will also learn the vocabulary to describe these tastes.

Develop Sense of Smell: Scent jars containing various smells such as flowers, spices, and extracts will be used to refine children's sense of smell. They will learn to identify and name different scents.

Develop Sense of Hearing: Sound cylinders and musical instruments will be used to develop auditory discrimination. Children will learn to recognize and differentiate between various sounds, pitches, and tones.

Develop Sense of Sight: Activities involving colour tablets, pattern recognition, and visual matching games will help children refine their visual perception. 

Introduction to Geometry: Children will develop their stereognostic sense through an exploration of basic geometry concepts. They will learn to recognize and differentiate shapes, enhancing spatial awareness and tactile perception.


Class Structure

Each session will begin with a brief lecture on the day's topic, providing children with a clear understanding of what they will be exploring. The teacher will then demonstrate the materials or worksheets needed for the activity, showing step-by-step how to complete the task. Following the demonstration, children will have the opportunity to try the activity independently, while the teacher observes and provides real-time feedback. This hands-on approach ensures that children learn through experience while receiving the support they need to succeed.

Our teaching style is fun, engaging, and productive. We believe that learning should be an enjoyable experience that stimulates curiosity and a love for discovery. By creating a positive and supportive atmosphere, we aim to keep students motivated and eager to participate.

Students will have ample opportunities to interact with the teacher and their peers throughout the class. The small group setting ensures that each child receives personalized attention and has the chance to actively participate in all activities. We incorporate a variety of teaching methods, including interactive games, discussions, slides, and occasional video clips, to make lessons dynamic and relatable.
