This one-time course will introduce students to the basics of command block coding in Minecraft. Command blocks are the built-in coding language in every version of Minecraft, so there is no need for any other program. Students and parents will also get a taste of who I am and how I teach. I'm a long-time teacher of computer science, author, YouTube personality, and 2-time Minecraft Global Mentor. I call my approach "Hard Fun", because it uses a project-based, hands-on, just-in-time approach to maximize learning and fun! I believe that allowing students to learn concepts in the context of their own creations is the secret sauce for making learning stick. Of course, I guide them through the process and offer multiple resources to help them, including my own video series on YouTube. As well, I structure my classes so that students hit the ground running as soon as I approve their projects. Students always find me an engaging, challenging, and inspiring teacher.
