This one-time course will introduce students to the basics of command block coding in Minecraft. Command blocks are the built-in coding language in every version of Minecraft, so there is no need for any other program. Students and parents will also get a taste of who I am and how I teach. I'm a long-time teacher of computer science, author, YouTube personality, and 2-time Minecraft Global Mentor. I call my approach "Hard Fun", because it uses a project-based, hands-on, just-in-time approach...
Students will be introduced to the basics of text-based coding, including variables, booleans, events, and conditionals within the context of their own minigame creations.

Students are provided a one-year license to Minecraft: Education Edition once they register in future courses. That will NOT be necessary for the one-time intro course. It will help for that if they have a version of Minecraft that uses the Bedrock version of Minecraft: Windows 10, Pocket Edition, Nintendo Switch. For my future courses, they will need to have a computer that runs both Minecraft: Education Edition and also Zoom.
