This meeting will examine theories about people and how they make changes successfully and with intention. Mindful change and facilitation of the change process are the underpinnings of professional counseling. This class is useful for anyone considering a career in a human services field (health, medicine, education, government) or for those who are looking to expand their own methods for creating personal positive change/growth. *This class directly relates to the BC Ministry of Education for K–12 Curriculum under: Physical and Health Education Curricular Competencies, and Mental well-being and Social and community health. In particular we address communication skills, proposing and identifying strategies in social situations, self advocacy and group dynamics.
I learned about change theory and counselling as part of my Bachelor studies at the University of Victoria, in BC. I believe these theories are helpful to all on a personal level, and that tools for personal growth are powerful. I'm excited to share these concepts with learners who are eager to understand themselves better.
