This class is designed for beginning ESL students and young emergent readers. 

In this class students will learn to read a story following a sentence patterns that repeat throughout the text. This helps them to build confidence as readers as they learn new vocabulary, practice reading sight words and learn English grammar patterns. In this story a little mermaid encounters several different ocean animals, and finally other mermaid friends, as she swims in the sea.  Finally, students will choose their favorite ocean animals to create their own online story about themselves swimming in the sea. The link to the story will be shared with families so that students can read it again and again as they continue to practice what they have learned.

All resources and activities are online, so students can clearly see the text and visuals. I adapt my teaching to meet the need of my learners, so each series is unique to that group. Through songs and games, students are supported and encouraged students to read the book independently by the end of the class.
