I believe success in math depends on a child's ability to not only understand numerical concepts, but to be able to apply those strategies to problems by using mathematical thinking. My approach in this class is to give students the tools they need to be able to solve problems, and then allow them to experiment, fail, and try again until they get the answer. Throughout the year, we work on developing strategies, understanding relationships, and building confidence. As I tell my students,...

Homework
빈도: 3-6 per week피드백: 포함됨세부 내용: Students will be expected to complete 4-8 pages of homework each week. Assignments will be posted in the Classroom on MONDAYS. We do not go over every question in the homework, but 15 minutes per class is set aside to discuss tricky problems.Assessment
빈도: 포함됨세부 내용: Students are assessed constantly during their work in class. Throughout the activities, we discuss our thinking and our strategies for approaching problems. Upon request, I will provide a written evaluation for your student.
Students should have already been introduced to multiplication. They should also be fluent in the addition and subtraction algorithms for numbers to 1,000.
You'll receive pdfs to print each week before class. In the meantime, these are the supplies that I highly recommend purchasing for the semester: -Paper/pencil -10-sided dice. You can get them here for about $9: https://amzn.to/3bTupux -Dimensions 3A workbook (available here for about $14): https://www.singaporemath.com/collections/dimensions-math-pk-5/products/dimensions-math-workbook-3a?variant=40979857506493 OPTIONAL MATERIALS -Place value discs, available here for $10: https://amzn.to/2Ft4A8p (students can also use virtual discs; link available in class)
