For students who have Math anxiety

 I set up the chat in the class for private. So students can answer questions in the chat and only I get to see the answers.I do not call on anyone to answer questions in front of the class, I simply write an exercise on the whiteboard and encourage all to answer via the chat, again in private and I give you private feedback. This lowers the anxiety level a ton. :)

The way I teach this skill is very easy to learn and your child will be prepared for success in Algebra.
 I will show students how to do an exercise on the white board. They will learn  by actually doing example exercises during class. I will repeat with another exercise and will explain as many times as needed until the students are ready to do the exercises by themselves. Once started, I will check their answers for accuracy and follow up with any necessary explanations. I encourage all participants to try as many exercises as possible. I follow up the class with an upload of homework with the solutions.

                           
The course breakdown is as follows:

Week 1: Adding and subtracting positives and negatives.
Week 2: Multiplying and dividing positives and negatives.
Week 3: Dealing with "double signs". i.e.  -3-+5 etc.
Week 4: Learning the distributive property.
Week 5: Working with exponents.
Week 6: Multiplying two binomials. (F.O.I.L. method)
Week 7: Multiplying more than two parentheses. i.e. (x-5)(x+6)(x-1)
Week 8: Introduction to factoring.

                             NOTE: If no one shows after 10 minutes , class is cancelled. No make ups, no refunds, no exceptions.

Adding and subtracting positives and negatives

 In this 50 minute class, the first 20 minutes will be used in explaining concepts and working detailed examples for students. The resultant 30 minutes will be used for students to practice exercises. Immediate feedback will be given along with explanations and or corrections. Students will practice adding and subtracting negative and positive numbers an essential skill in order to understand the language of Algebra. Using two basic rules which will remove all confusion about negatives forever.

 In this 50 minute class, the first 20 minutes will be used in explaining concepts and working detailed examples for students. The resultant 30 minutes will be used for students to practice exercises. Immediate feedback will be given along with explanations and or corrections. Students will practice multiplying and dividing negative and positive numbers an essential skill in order to understand the language of Algebra. Using two basic rules which will remove all confusion about negatives 4 EVER.

 In this 50 minute class, the first 20 minutes will be used in explaining concepts and working detailed examples for students. The resultant 30 minutes will be used for students to practice exercises. Immediate feedback will be given along with explanations and or corrections. Students will practice skills learned lesson 1 and lesson 2. This reinforces essential skills in order to understand the language of Algebra.

Learning the distributive property

 In this 50 minute class, the first 20 minutes will be used in explaining concepts and working detailed examples for students. The resultant 30 minutes will be used for students to practice exercises. Immediate feedback will be given along with explanations and or corrections. Students will practice multiplying  integers using parentheses, another   essential skill. This lesson will reinforce and further solidify the concept of negative numbers in order to understand the language of Algebra.
