- Students will learn how aperture, shutter speed, and ISO work together to create a photograph. Students will also learn how to use these settings to create photographs.

- Students will learn the basics of effective photograph composition.

- Students will explore specific four 200-series topics in photography: Portraits, Night Photography, Street Photography, Black & White Photography

- Students will create mini-portfolios around a specific theme in a final project.

- Students will learn to speak about their work with detail and pride, and share it with the group.

- Each class, students will also learn about a specific photographer from history and some of their most famous photos.

I hold a BA in Studio Art/Photography and Psychology, and am trained both as a photographer and as a Montessori assistant teacher. As an educator I have experience teaching children pre-K through high school.

Photography projects will be assigned each week. Projects are set up to encourage discovery, experimentation, and exploration, and help facilitate the photography learning process of applying what is covered in the lesson. The following class, each student will turn in each work to share and discuss their experience and any questions around the assignment. They will also share positive feedback with each other as a way to practice the language around the new terms and concepts. Small class sizes ensure plenty of 1:1 support and discussion of each student's work.

Learner progress is evaluated through review of the techniques explored in their images and discussion using the the terms/ideas from class.

The focus of this class is on exploration and discovery through experimenting with the various skills and techniques. 

Class is not usually graded, but I can offer a grade if needed for your schooling system based on effort and participation upon request, simply message me before the end of class.
