In this one-time class students will build with magna-tiles while practicing math and writing skills. Students are more engaged in learning when they are doing something they enjoy! In this class students will get to create and build structures using magnatiles or other building materials. After learners create these structures they will get to communicate what they built to the group. This promotes communication skills. Then, students will be encouraged to "see the math" in their...
Students will develop problem solving skills through building different structures. Students will communicate what they built. Students will connect what they built to math by: seeing what shapes they used, how many sides they have, how many corners, and how big or small their structure is. Students will write about their structure in sentence form.
I have a bachelors degree in Elementary Education. I am certified to teach in grades k-6. I am also Reading Endorsed and ESOL (English as a second language) Endorsed. This is my 8th year of teaching. I have taught first, second, and fifth grade.
