Week 1 (Monday 3/24): Introduction to Weather

Objective: Children will understand that weather is something that happens every day.

Storytime: Read a book "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" by Judi Barrett.

Discussion: Ask questions like, "What is weather?" "What kind of weather have you seen?"

Activity: Make a "Weather Wheel" with different weather symbols (sun, cloud, raindrop, snowflake). Have children spin the wheel each day to see what the weather is like.

Song: “The Weather Song” – A simple song to reinforce weather types, such as sunny, rainy, and cloudy.

Week 2(Monday 3/31): Sunny Weather

Objective: Children will identify sunny weather and understand its effects.

Discussion: Talk about what happens on sunny days (the sun shines, it gets warm, people wear sunglasses and hats).

Activity: Create a sun craft using yellow paper and crayons or markers to make a sun.

Song: “If You’re Happy and You Know It, It’s a Sunny Day” (tune of "If You’re Happy and You Know It").

Week 3(Monday 4/7): Rainy Weather

Objective: Children will learn about rainy weather and its impact on the environment.

Storytime: Read "The Rainy Day" by Anna Milbourne 

Discussion: Discuss rain and how it makes puddles, helps plants grow, and sometimes makes us wear raincoats or carry umbrellas.

Activity: Make a simple umbrella craft with paper and crayons.

Song: “Rain, Rain, Go Away” – A fun way to sing about the rain.

Week 4(Monday 4/14): Windy Weather

Objective: Children will identify windy weather and how it affects us.

Discussion: Explain wind and how it moves trees, leaves, and makes things blow around.
Activity: Create a simple wind sock using a paper towel tube and streamers or fabric strips. Hang it outside to observe how the wind moves it.

Song: “The Wind Blows” – A song where children can pretend to be wind blowing things around.

Week 5(Monday 4/21): Cloudy and Stormy Weather

Objective: Children will identify cloudy and stormy weather and its characteristics.

Storytime: Read "Little Cloud" by Eric Carle.

Discussion: Talk about clouds and how they bring rain or stormy weather.

Activity: Make a cloud in a jar using cotton balls and a clear jar. Discuss how clouds are made of tiny water droplets.

Song: “The Cloud Song” – A simple song about how clouds float in the sky.

Week 6(Monday 4/28): Extreme Weather

Objective: Children will learn about extreme weather (heat, snow, and thunderstorms) in a gentle way.

Discussion: Talk about things like snow, heatwaves, or thunderstorms in a simple way that doesn’t scare the children. Focus on what we can do to stay safe (wear sunscreen, stay indoors when it's too hot, etc.).

Activity: Make a snowman craft or play with snow-like materials (shaving cream, cotton balls) for a tactile experience.

Song: "Thunder, Thunder" – A simple song to talk about thunder and lightning.

Week 7:(Monday 5/5) Weather Instruments

Objective: Children will be introduced to simple weather instruments.

Discussion: Talk about tools that help us track the weather (thermometers, rain gauges, anemometers).

Activity: Create a simple weather tool with coloring. 

Song: “This Is the Way We Measure the Weather” – A simple song about using weather tools.

Week 8:(Monday 5/12) Weather and Clothing

Objective: Children will learn how to dress appropriately for different weather types.

Discussion: Discuss different types of clothing for different types of weather (jackets for cold, swimsuits for hot, rain boots for wet).

Activity: Have a "dress for the weather" dress-up station where children can choose clothes for different weather situations.

Song: “What to Wear Today” – A fun song about what clothes we wear for the weather.
