In this 3 day dance camp students will learn the steps to shim sham. This is a 1940's era dance. I will break down the dance into three small sections and we will do one section per day. I will demonstrate each section prior to the students attempting the steps. When it is the students turn to do the steps, I will have them copy me first, and then try the steps on their own. Students should have an open area with no tripping hazards, such as a living room with furniture pushed aside. Students should also wear tennis shoes for class. This is a low-key dance and does not contain strenuous dance moves. As with any physical activity, there is always a risk. If students attempt to dance in shoes with heels or flip flops they risk twisting an ankle.
