The process of making a movie or television show begins years before the director yells "Lights, Camera, Action"! You probably know that a lot of work goes on behind the scenes... but have you ever wondered how it all begins? How much money does it really cost to make a movie? What does the inside of a sound stage look like? And just how many people did it take to make some of our favorite films? Our class is going to dive deep into the magical, expensive, and time consuming world of...
Students will be able to identify the five stages of the film making process. They will compare and analyze successes and failures of some of the most well-known films in box office history. They will discover what life is like on a real production set, and they will gain insight on how some (unlikely) people rose to the top of the entertainment industry.
As a ten year veteran of the entertainment industry, I have worked on over 30 productions in my career. I have made my own documentaries, worked inside a newsroom, and as production and development coordinator for the National Geographic Channel! Currently I work as a Production Manager for the largest film studio on the East Coast. My career has given me inside access to productions in all of their stages, and I am eager to share this information with my students.
