Sketchnoting is about capturing our mental maps and increases learning by 30% (source listed below) This class is the Level 2 Sketchnoting class for older kids. There is a Level 2 for kids under age 14. What are we learning? How to map out ideas using a visual format aka SKETCHNOTING for the intermediate sketchnoter. Students will learn how to: analyze how a work of nonfiction draws on themes, patterns of events, and how to visualize those ideas in note-taking form cite the textual evidence that most strongly supports an analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text. determine a theme or central idea of a text and analyze its development over the course of the text, including its relationship to the sketch-noter and how to draw an objective summary of the text
-I have taken three workshops on Sketchnoting: Sketchnoting 101/ Visual Note-Taking/ ADHD Visualization and Neurodivergency -To teach a high school level course, I have the expertise of teaching English Language arts in a public high school in the United States for 15 years -I am currently certified with the National Council for Teacher of English -I am currently certified to teach English Language Arts Level T-7 (Highly Qualified) under the Georgia Professional Standards Commission from 2007 - 2022; certification to be renewed 2026 -I have a BS in English Education from Kennesaw State University -I have taught this material through the Johns Creek Student Leadership Council for three years to students from middle school (grade 6) to high school (grade up to 12) high school
