The age range for this class is 4-7. Students age 6-7 who have been learning another instrument for at least a year might prefer to join the 6-9 year old class where we move at a slightly faster pace. 5 year old "Suzuki kids" who have been learning a Suzuki method instrument for over 2 years may also join the 6-9 class. Contact me if you would like to check which class is most suitable. Please note that this class will only run if at least three learners are enrolled. If the minimum number...
Students will learn how to stand in an appropriate stance for recorder playing, hand positioning, and breath control. Students will be introduced to staccato and legato articulation. They will learn up to five beginner pieces on the recorder. All pieces will have sung lyrics to assist with learning. Students are encouraged to play with beautiful intonation and articulation and to listen to the sound they are making. There will be an opportunity for each student to perform to the rest of the class at the end of each weekly session. As this is a Suzuki class, students will be learning to play by ear and they will not be reading written notation at this stage.
I have been teaching Suzuki Recorder to individual students and small group classes in the London area since 2013. I trained with British Suzuki Music Association. I teach students of all ages and I am particularly experienced in teaching early years learners.

등록 시 1개의 파일을 볼 수 있어요.You will need: Essential: Recorder Please ensure you have a good quality plastic or wooden soprano recorder and not a toy recorder. It is important to have a good quality instrument so that you are able to make a beautiful sound. I recommend the Yamaha YRS 312Biii (resin) or YRS 402B (plant based "ecodear" plastic) but many other good quality recorders of approximately £20-£35 ($20-$45) are available. Please contact me if you have questions about a specific model. You will need to tape over the holes of your recorder with electrical insulation tape. You will be able to access instructions for this upon enrollment. Repertoire Playlist Suzuki Recorder Book 1 & 2 (Soprano) CD or digital playlist. Ideally the playlist, at least the first five pieces, should be listened to daily. Optional: Suzuki Book 1 Recorder (Soprano) book Thumb rest I strongly recommend using a thumb rest. It assists hand positioning and is essential for students who continue into Suzuki Recorder Volume 2.

Students who listen to the repertoire daily will make faster progress and will feel most confident when learning the new material. Suzuki Recorder Volume 1 & 2 (Soprano) recorded by Marion Verbruggen can be purchased as a CD or is available digitally on iTunes.
I am currently not accepting new recorder students. Please contact me to ask about future availability and waiting lists.
