Each week we will read two different MathStart books by Stuart J. Murphy and talk about the different parts we liked. Before the stories, students vote and help choose which book we read first. When reading the book, I like to incorporate movement and interaction to keep the students engaged. For example, if a pizza is being cut into fractions, we will pretend to slice and eat our pizza too. We might hop, clap and jump in a pattern when we are reading about sequencing.
