Terraria is an amazing game! It is one of my favorite games. Modded Terraria add so much more content to the game. 

Students enrolled in this class will have access to my own private server during class time. 
This class is only available for Terraria on the computer. Console and mobile Terraria will not work for this class.

***PLEASE READ*************************************** 

To join and play on the server players will need BOTH Terraria AND TModLoader. These are both available on Steam. Terraria does cost money, however TModLoader is free. But you will need BOTH to join the server. 

I will design and put together a mod pack that we will be using each playthrough. I am open to suggestions from students of mods we should add. However, the final decision of what mods will be used will be left to me. 

Students will not need to worry about downloading the mods as TModLoader will automatically download them when connecting to the server. It is super easy to connect!

We will be mostly playing on journey mode in all classes (as it makes it easier to duplicate and share items with each other and reduces arguing over who gets what rare item. Students must create a new character in journey mode upon the first time joining the world.

We will be following progression in game, meaning that no using end game overpowered items until we have reached that point in progression. This will keep the game balanced and fun for everyone. 

This class will encourage and practice teamworking skills and cooperative play, social skills, critical thinking skills to accomplish group and individual goals, respect, and manners. 
Since this is an ongoing social class, there is not a “lesson plan” for each week. We will gather in the Zoom classroom to talk and play the game together. 
A general week by week topic breakdown will look something like this:
Week of 10/30 - Resource gathering, gear upgrading. 
Week of 11/6 - NPC house building, resource gathering, gear upgrading. 
Week of 11/13 - Boss fights
Week of 11/20 - More resource gathering, gear upgrading, npc house building, and boss fighting. 

These topics will repeat on cycle throughout the course. It may not be exact but it is a general idea of what we will be doing in game each week. We will adjust it as needed depending on progression in game. 

This will be great practice in social and group interactions. Students are not required to take previous classes. Feel free to pop in and out at any time!

Each class time will be a separate world from other class times. For example, Monday at 2pm will play on “World A”, Friday at 9pm will play on “World B”, etc. Each week we will continue progression on our current world. So, if a student signs up for both Monday and Friday, they will be played on different worlds. 
**Those days and times are just an example and may not be actual listed times**

This is a very loosely structured, relaxed environment.
However, there are a few rules we must all follow to make sure we all have a good experience.
-No inappropriate language or topics (Keep it 100% family friendly)
-No bullying, teasing, or harassing other players. (Remember there are people of all skill levels who play. Some may just be starting out; others might have been playing for years.)
-Be kind and respectful to each other.
-No griefing or stealing. Do not use explosives to destroy people’s builds and the world. Do not pour lava or water all over everything. No messing up the world.

Students enrolled in the class will have access to the server during class time as long as they are currently enrolled in the class. 
During the class we will work on a variety of projects together including mining for resources, building structures, fighting bosses, and more! While playing we will also discuss Terraria and other appropriate topics that come up in class. 

Students wishing to join the server should create a new character in journey mode. Once class has started, I will give the server access information.
