When listening to a piece of music, most people tend to feel something. Music can inspire strong emotions, or can even make the listener picture something specific. In this ongoing class, we're going to explore the visual side of music, and make paintings based on what we hear. Each class will follow the same loose structure. Learners will be shown a portion of a piece of music, and allowed to listen to it without interruption for a few minutes. Then, we'll talk about what it makes us feel,...
Students will learn how to interpret music and express it through painting.
Art is a lifelong passion, and my journey with art started in middle school. I have worked in many different media, but my favorites are sketching, drawing, and photography. I’ve been keeping sketchbooks for nearly 20 years, and they’ve helped me document my journey with art, as well as important milestones in my life. I want to help learners find their artistic passion and help them do the same.
Students should come to class with all of the necessary supplies to paint in the medium of their choice. For acrylic paints, students should have paints, a palette, brushes, water, paper towels, and canvas or thick paper to work with. For watercolor paints, students should have paints or watercolor pencils, brushes, water, watercolor paper, and paper towels. If a student should desire to work with another medium, please message me before class to let me know. This allows me to be prepared to assist them with their skills and techniques.
