수업 소개
The students in this class will be made aware of careers that involve having knowledge in game design and coding. We will look at examples of coded games and begin to learn how to code a playable game on Scratch.mit.edu. After they watch me, model, how to code using scratch and complete some simple coding. They will design, create, and troubleshoot their own game with my guidance and help. They will also have the opportunity to play the other student's games. Students will follow along with me using Nearpod.edu where I will share a presentation on everything they are learning in the class. We will wrap up every class with a review game for the day. In this class, the students will learn from example and from myself modeling every step. I will also ask students to share their screens so I can see their code and help them fix any errors in their code or design. This class is the 2nd in my Coding series but it can also be taken independently. Coding for Beginners, which is the 1st class in the series, covers what coding is, the history, and the basics. However, if your student is confident with the basics of Scratch and coding they may join this class without taking Coding for Beginners. 3 Classes total 1.5 hours each Class 1: Introductions and instructions on the basics. We will discuss careers that involve coding. Next students will look at an example of a coded game. We will look at the code of the game and discuss it. We will look at Scratch.com as I explain it and they begin to code. I will show students some tips and tricks to make coding easier. Class 2: Students will come up with a game and its design following the parameters that I will give them. Students will begin coding their games with my help. Class 3: Students will finish coding their games with my help. I will meet with students in breakout rooms to help them to complete their code. Students will finish their code and I will test their games in breakout rooms with me and I will help them to finish up. Last we will have our Final Game presentations and students will play each other's games if time permits.

Hi, My name is Emily Ludlam and I teach 8th grade Science currently. I am a certified teacher with my K-6 degree in elementary education. I also have my certification to teach middle school Science and Gifted students. I am currently working as a classroom teacher. 5 years ago I work at a local Science Center and managed a STEM grant through that school system and NC State University for 3 years. We also went around to the local elementary schools and put on Science shows! I truly believe that if students are not having fun they will not be engaged and they will in turn not learn. I am also the mother of two beautiful children and 3 fur babies. Oh and a frog plus a husband.
