In this ongoing course, learners will develop their maths skills. This course is part of a six year primary maths course that takes a problem-solving approach to teaching young learners the skills they need to become confident mathematicians. This course contains a greater focus on the use of manipulatives in the classroom, pictorial and abstract representations to promote deeper learning, language support to help EAL students develop fluency in mathematical language. Week of 19/8/24 - Simplifying mixed numbers Week of 26/8/24 - Adding fractions Week of 2/9/24 - Subtracting fractions Week of 9/9/24 - Adding and subtracting fractions Week of 16/9/24 - Fractions of lengths Week of 23/9/24 - Fractions of sets Week of 30/9/24 - Recognising and writing tenths Week of 7/10/24 - Recognising and writing hundredths Week of 14/10/24 - Tenths and hundredths as decimals Week of 21/10/24 - Comparing and ordering decimals Week of 28/10/24 - Rounding decimals Week of 4/11/24 - Writing fractions as decimals Week of 11/11/24 - Dividing by 10 Week of 18/11/24 - Dividing by 100 Week of 25/11/24 - Counting in hundredths Week of 2/12/24 - Mixed numbers Week of 9/12/24 - Equivalent fractions Further classes will be added.
