This course assumes that students have already learned the Hiragana and Katakana writing systems along with a fair amount of Kanji characters. It also builds upon Japanese grammar and phrases learned from previous classes. For new students that have already spent a little time learning Japanese, please contact me beforehand so I can give you a recommendation on where to start. For absolute beginners, I recommend taking my “Let’s Learn Japanese 1.1: Hiragana” course first. Please see the link below for more information: https://outschool.com/classes/lets-learn-japanese-hiragana-VBROYw56?usid=qS2CkSiB&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link ********************************** Over the course of 8 lessons, students will use several sub-topics such as weather, seasons, travel, and occupations to share opinions as well as predictions for the future using Japanese. In grammar, we will learn how to express things that we "think", "want", or "want to become" using both noun and verb phrases. We will also do more work on comparatives and explaining our reasoning for our opinions. 21 new 漢字 (Kanji) characters will be introduced and several older characters will be reviewed. Lesson 1: -Kanji (晴、雲、風) -Weather related vocabulary (part 1) -Grammar (~でしょう) -Brief review for time/date terms -New vocabulary practice Lesson 2: -Worksheet review -Kanji (暑、寒、涼) -Weather related vocabulary (part 2) -Grammar (〜くなる) -Weather forecast listening practice Lesson 3: -Worksheet review -Kanji (春、夏、秋、冬) -Seasons related vocabulary -Grammar (review comparatives on 2 objects, learn comparatives on 3+ objects) -Practice using comparatives Lesson 4: -Worksheet review -Kanji (思、悪、州) -Opinion word related vocabulary -Grammar (〜(だ)と思う) -Practice expressing thoughts on conversational topics Lesson 5: -Worksheet review -Kanji (京、都、海) -City/travel related vocabulary -Grammar (〜たい vs. ほしい) -Practice expressing what we want to do through travel Lesson 6: -Worksheet review -Kanji (者、医、社) -Occupation related vocabulary (part 1) -Grammar (〜になりたい) -New vocabulary practice and answering what we want to be in the future Lesson 7: -Worksheet review -Kanji (仕、事) -Occupation related vocabulary (part 2) -Grammar (explaining reasoning with 〜ですから/〜だから ) -Practice explaining why we like or want to be something using 〜ですから/〜だから Lesson 8: -Worksheet review -Review practice and games! This course will primarily be presented in PowerPoint format. The beginning of each class is usually spent reviewing characters and worksheets. Next, we learn new kanji characters, vocabulary words, and sentence patterns. When necessary, time is also spent on grammar to help students understand the structure of new sentence patterns. Learning will be supplemented with activities such as conversation practice, role-playing scenarios, listening exercises, and information-gap/ memory games.

수업 자료
Students should come to each class with something to write with and something to write on. For students that are more serious about taking all of my courses, I strongly recommend using folders or a binder to organize printouts and notes between each class section. Students should ideally have access to a printer as well for the worksheets. If this is not possible, they could work around this by writing down worksheet answers in their notes.
