아날로그 시계로 시간을 알려주는 방법을 배워보자!

In this one-time class, students will learn how to tell time to the nearest minute on an analog clock. We will talk about the importance of knowing how to tell time and real-life examples of it, identifying the hour and minute hand on a clock, counting by fives to find the minute, a.m. and p.m., and more! Please keep in mind that this class will teach how to tell time in the U.S., using the 12 hour clock.

Learners need some prior knowledge to be successful in this lesson. Students should be able to tell time to the hour, half-hour, 15 minutes, and 45 minutes on an analog clock. Students also need to be able to count by fives. If a learner knows how to tell time to the nearest five minutes, that is great but not required to know prior to class.

Outline (I will use a google slide to go through each part of the lesson)

-Modeling how to find the time, practice together as a group, independent practice
-Play BINGO!  Students will still be practicing telling time for this, but they will also have fun and see if they can be the one to win by getting bingo!
-What does a.m and p.m represent?
-How do you know if it's a.m. or p.m. based on the time of day? For example, if the time shown on an analog clock is 10:30 and it is light outside, you know it's 10:30 a.m. Because if it were 10:30 p.m., it would be dark outside.
-Wrap up, reflect on learning

I encourage active participation from all students. In this lesson, students will have multiple opportunities to interact with their peers and I, by engaging in discussions and sharing their thoughts, so it would be great to have multiple students contributing. I might also have us do a short brain break, depending on how the class is doing and if it’s needed. This helps for learners to regain focus and concentrate better. This could be a movement activity (stretching, jumping jacks, hopping, etc.) would you rather, or find it fast (find something red, find something round, etc.).
