수업 소개
In this fun and creative weekly course, students will learn about various (non-technical) aspects of photography and will be given varying creative challenges at the end of each class as homework. This is a highly interactive class so students will be encouraged to talk during class, share their opinions, and talk about their work. Because this is a 1:1 class, it can be tailored to fit your learner’s needs! This creative photography class will help learners see photography as an art form within their possession as well as become more aware of how they can go from taking average photos to more artistic and playful ones. The number one focus of my class is creativity and having fun! Learners are free to join and quit this class at anytime as each week will feature a new topic. (As this is a 1:1 class, topics can always be tailored & adjusted to fit each learner and their interests!) Here is an example outline of what topics this class will cover: Week One: The Power of Color, Black and White Photography, & Basic Photo Editing We will discuss color vs black and white photography as well as some basic photo editing techniques. When should we use black and white? When should we use color? How can we use color to set the mood? Week Two: Perspective We will discuss interesting angles & perspectives. How does changing the angle or focus lead to telling a better story? Week Three: Backgrounds & Social Media Photography We will discuss why certain social media accounts have such successful photos and learn some practical ways we can do the same! Week Four: Genres, Styles, Portfolios & Themes We will discuss several branches & styles of photography. How does a photographer choose what genre to specialize in? Why are portfolios so important for a photographer to have? We will discuss some ideas for themes and concepts, etc. Learners are free to bring any photos to class to share with me as I'd love to see their work so far! It should be noted that this is NOT a technical photography class that goes into aperture, shutter speed, ISO, lenses, which camera model to buy, or how to use professional software to edit photos such as Adobe photoshop. Rather, the focus of this class will be on the creative & artistic non-technical aspects of photography with a lesson on basic editing that learners can do from any device without purchasing additional software. The purpose of this creative class is to inspire learners to think outside the box and to be encouraged to find (and make) art around them! Commonly asked questions: Can my child use a camera phone? This course can be used with any camera your learner prefers. Thus, camera phones are perfectly acceptable for our class! Is my child too young to take this course? The beauty of a one on one class is that it can be tailored to your child. Therefore, this class is also suitable for younger beginners as the tasks given can be modified to suit a learner's abilities and age. Does my child need to know how to edit photos? If a learner already knows how to edit their own photos, they are encouraged to do so as they complete the challenges. Learners are highly encouraged to bring to the table & use whatever skills they may already have. However, if your learner doesn't have any experience with editing photos, you can simply let me know and we can either modify the assignments or I can show the learner simple ways to edit during class if needed. Will my child be graded on the challenges they complete? Positive feedback will always be given for any completed assignment. Grades will not be given as in a traditional classroom setting. This is simply a fun weekly class that is meant to inspire learners to use their cameras to create fun and artistic pictures. Creativity and effort is appreciated more than what is "technically correct". Why have so many assignments? Why is there homework? When learners hear the word "homework", they tend to cringe. Usually because homework is either boring or difficult and it's for a grade. But a fun challenge to see how creative they can get? Who wouldn't want to try? What learners get from this course is connected to how much they put it into it. Therefore, the learners who give their best with the challenges and try to implement what is discussed in class will typically have the most to gain from this class. Can my child take this class with their best friend? Yes. While this class is a 1:1 class by default, adjustments can be made if your child would like to take this class together with their friend(s). Feel free to contact me for more details if this appeals to your learner. Don't see a time convenient for your learner? Feel free to reach out to me with any day/time requests!

I took photography classes in college as well as supplementary photography classes at a local art school. While I learned how to develop my own film in a dark room, I prefer digital photography so much more! Because my college classes focused on black and white photography, I have a special appreciation for the power that both black and white and color play in a photo's mood. I have assisted a professional photographer to learn more about wedding photography but soon realized I prefer more artsy photography than taking pictures of bridal parties. I enjoyed hosting a casual and fun photography event over zoom last year and I take photos almost daily as a hobby. I have traveled to several continents using different quality cameras (point and shoot, DSLR and more recently my camera phone!) to capture the moment and am always finding symbolism and meaning in everyday objects. I strongly believe in these famous words: the best camera is the one you have. If you have the artist eye and a vision, that's all that matters.
