Are you looking for a fun class to help your child become excited about reading? This class will help build confidence in readers as we learn some of the basic foundations of learning to read in engaging ways! Sight words are frequently used words that students should recognize while reading. When students have a list of sight words that they can read, it helps them to be more fluent and confident readers (so they don't have to spend time sounding out every single word)! This is a very important step in learning how to read independently. In this course, students will be engaged in many multisensory, hands-on activities to help them learn many of the Dolch sight words, while learning some important phonics sounds that will help them understand reading better! Each class, students will have a mini phonics lesson where they will be taught a 'word chunk' such as a digraph (examples: sh, ch, wh, th), vowel team pattern (examples: ee, ai, ew), diphthongs (examples: oo, oi, oy), and more! We will look for this new word chunk in words and then we will look at 2-3 Dolch sight words that follow that same/similar phonics pattern. Students will then be shown a fun way to practice their sight words some more at home with a game or activity! Through repetition, students will be writing, reading, and playing games to help them learn their sight words in a snap! Whether they are newer to sight words or just need a little review, this class will cover many Dolch sight words through third grade and the phonics rules that go with them. We will also practice reading some blends and digraphs, finding the words in a sentence, and reading with expression! This class helps students work on sight words along with some other common word parts that will help them to be more confident and successful in learning how to read! These word parts will help children as they read, write, and spell! We will work on digraphs, blends, r-controlled vowel teams, long vowel teams, and much more! Students will learn some rhymes and tricks to help with their spelling as well and to help them read our sight words. Students will be guided and supported as we learn how to decode and read more word parts and sight words during our time together! This will be a fun and inclusive class so I hope your learner will join us! Feel free to join us at anytime! Each class spends time reviewing sight words and word chunks we have covered in earlier classes. :) **Please note that this class is for learners who are able to identify and write their letters and reading some basic CVC words (cat, run, big). If your child still needs a little help with writing letters, parent support off-camera is appreciated. Please let me know if you have questions about whether this class may be a good fit for your child. If your child is not secure in letter names and sounds, I do have a class on learning letters and sounds that is multisensory as well! I also have a class to help children learn how to blend CVC words together and a learning to read class 1 with learning to read CVC words and decodable sight words. You can see each class description for more details, but please message me with any questions so I can help you find the right fit class for your learner! :) *With different sections going on, please be sure to check the right class time for what topics will be covered. Each session is on a different lesson. Feel free to message me with any questions! :) * ________________________________________________________ Here are the UPDATED list of words we will be working on in each class: Week 1 (digraphs): Class 1-(sight words-jump, come, some) Class 2-(sight words-where, what, when) Week 2 (digraphs)-Class 3- (sight words-which, much) Class 4-(sight words-wash, wish) Week 3 (digraphs)- Class 5-(sight words-the, that, them) Class 6-(sight words-then, this, those) Week 4 (digraphs)-Class 7-(sight words-think, thank) Class 8-(sight words-with, both) Week 5 (ell, ill): Class 9-(sight words-well, fell, tell) Class 10-(sight words-will, still) Week 6 (long vowels): Class 11-(sight words-may, say, play) Class 12-(sight words-away, always) Week 7 (long vowels): Class 13-(sight words-came, gave, made) Class 14-(sight words-make, take, ate) Week 8 (long vowels): Class 15-(sight words-they) Class 16-(sight words-be, he, me) Week 9 (long vowels): Class 17-(sight words-she, we) Class 18-(sight words-these, green, keep) Week 10 (long vowels): Class 18-(sight words-see, sleep, three)- Class 19-(sight words-please, eat, read)- Week 11 (long vowels): Class 20-(sight words-every, very)- Class 21-(sight words-so, no, go)- Week 12 (long vowels): Class 22- (sight words-old, cold, don't)- Class 23-(sight words-going, goes)- Week 13 (long vowels): Class 24-(sight words-grow, know)- Class 25-(sight words-over, open, only)- Week 14 (long vowels): Class 26- (sight words-my, fly, why)- Class 27- (sight words-buy, by)- Week 15 (long vowels): Class 27-(sight words-like, white, write)- Class 28-(sight words-ride, five)- Week 16 (long vowels): Class 29-(sight words-find, right)- Class 30-(use, new, blue)- Week 17 (r-controlled vowels): Class 31-(sight words-her, after, better)- Class 32-(sight words-never, under, were)- Week 18 (r-controlled vowels): Class 33- (sight words-first, girl, work)- Class 34: (sight words-our, out, about) Week 19 (ou/ow sounds) : Class 34- (sight words-around, found, round)- Class 35-(sight words-down, how) Week 20 (ou/ow sounds): Class 36: (sight words-now, brown) Class 37: (sight words-all, call, small) Week 21 (aw/or sounds): Class 38: (sight word: saw)- Class 39: (sight words: or, for, before, your)- Week 22 (oo sounds) : Class 40: (sight words: soon, too, you)- Class 41: (sight words: do, to, who, into)- Week 23 (oo sounds): Class 42: (sight words: good, look, pull, put)- Class 43: (sight words: could, would)- Week 24 (ar sounds): Class 44: (sight word: are)- Class 45-(sight words: one, two, four)- Week 25: Class 46-silent letter patterns Class 47-silent letter patterns Week 26: Class 48-silent letter patterns Class 49-'ink' pattern Week 27: Class 50-'ank' pattern Class 51-'oi' pattern Week 28: Class 52-'oy' pattern Class 53-aught/ought Week 29-Class 54-hard and soft 'g' sounds Class 55-hard and soft 'g' sounds Week 30-Class 56-hard and soft 'c' sounds Class 57-hard and soft 'c' sounds Week 31-Class 57-review of hard and soft sounds Class 58-review of hard and soft sounds Week 32-Class 59-compound words Class 60-compound words Week 33-Class 61-contractions Class 62-contractions Week 34-Class 63-contractions Class 64-contractions Week 35-Class 65-contractions Class 66-contractions Week 36-Class 67-contractions Class 68-contractions *After Class 68, I will be starting the session over from lesson 1 again.* ________________________________________________________________ Here is the schedule for the NEW session starting on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024 at 7:35 pm EST!
