This is a course meant to explain to students what multiplication is. They will learn that multiplication is repeated addition through examples and models. This course is important for students that are barely being introduced to multiplication. Students will not learn multiplication facts in a memorization manner, they will learn to calculate answers through repeated addition and using models. Students will learn the concept of multiplication through repeated addition and the use of models.
This is a lesson that I have taught both in a public school with a class of 30 students and in private tutoring setting, and I have always been able to identify the misconceptions regarding this lesson. This helps me adjust the lesson to individual needs.
