어린이 책과 노래를 통해 스페인어 배우기 - 레벨 0

This course will provide support for Spanish language learners with very little or no prior experience learning Spanish.  I have experience teaching both English and Spanish to children with no experience learning a second language, many of whom did not share a common language with me, so I know I can help your child succeed!

We will start off each lesson with a preview of the content in English.  Then we will move to almost 100% Spanish immersion for the next 15-18 minutes of class.  Students will be permitted to ask how to say something in Spanish by saying it in English.  

Students will improve their reading fluency, grammar, and vocabulary development using familiar texts, songs, and reader's theater  in Spanish, which I will provide.  This will help students make meaning of the words they have not yet learned.  The students will act out scenarios to practice vocabulary words and improve speaking fluency.  The teacher will also act out vocabulary words and use TPR (total physical response) to help her students understand the content. 

Each class will end with a brief 1 to 2-minute review during which time both languages can be spoken.   During this time, students will develop meta-linguistic awareness while we discuss things such as cognates and similarities and differences between English and Spanish.  

There will be some time spent on grammar and spelling as needed.  This will be tailored to specific student needs.
