Start learning how to code by making a fun game! A course designed for kids who are interested in learning how to make their own video games! This workshop will give students an introduction into game development using Python and Processing.py. Students will be making their own ‘whack-a-mole’ style games that feature an objective (whacking moles), scorekeeping, and a win-condition (whacking all the moles). This course aims to inspire students to think about video games from the developer’s perspective, while also providing them with the basic skills needed to create Python programs.

By the end of this workshop students will have their very own Whack-A-Mole game and alongside the instructor will also:
>>> Learn about variables and their importance in coding & game development
>>> Be introduced to abstract programming concepts such as ‘for loops’ and ‘if statements’
>>> Have an understanding of how the game development process turns ideas into interactive products


No previous coding experience required. Processing 4 can be downloaded for free at https://processing.org/download, students will be shown how to enable Processing’s Python mode within the workshop.
