Welcome!

Feel free to join ANY week. Students enjoy my warm and encouraging teaching style. I truly enjoy teaching and seeing kids learn something that was hard or new for them.

In this class, students will practice telling time looking at both digital and analog clocks on worksheets and my big teaching clock. (with the hour and minute hands) They can also practice telling us what time it is on their watch or from their laptop/iPad etc. they are using for our class. *If you want to buy your child a small moveable analog clock, that can be helpful for practicing during and outside of class time.

In addition to practicing telling time, students will also practice counting and reading money amounts in U.S dollars, practice figuring out equal amounts such as how many pennies would it need to equal 1 dime or which bills does it take to equal 1 $10 bill if you wanted smaller bills, etc. We'll also go over counting and figuring out the right amount of change.

Students are encouraged to bring some dollar bills and various coins in front of them so they can practice moving the money as they count certain amounts.

Introduce names of coins and U.S Dollar bills. Talk about each coins value and its equivalent. (1 dime =10 cents or worth 2 nickels or 10 pennies) etc.

Review U.S money names and amounts, then introduce both analog and digital clocks. Talk about what kinds of clocks we see if different places (in the kitchen, in the car, in a classroom, on your wrist, etc) Practice reading different times with flashcards and the clocks they see around them.

Practice reading time in 2 different ways and reading money amounts in 2 different ways with the flashcards. Students are welcome to count with their real money if they'd like to bring some to class.

Make up money and time amounts for students to figure out.

Make up addition and subtraction money problems for students to figure out.

Make up time questions for students to figure out. (If it is 1:15pm, how many more minutes is it until 1:30pm? Etc)

New money math problems. Play "would you rather?" money questions. (Would you rather buy ____ right now or save so you can buy _____etc type questions I'll make up)

Talk about the concept of time.
Talk about examples of different ways of telling time in addition to the analog and digital clocks. Discuss as a class what are things they do that makes time feel like it goes by slowly or quickly?

** I paid for educational worksheets and games from Education.com that we enjoy together and discuss. I hope your child enjoys my class as much as I enjoy teaching!

Thanks for reading about my class!

*Outschool takes 30% of what teachers charge and I have to pay my own taxes from whatever I make so that's all built into my weekly price.

Practice with real or pretend money:

You are welcome to bring some $1s, $5s, and different coins that you have to practice moving the money yourself as we count and know each coin by name.
If you do not have U.S money or do not have some to move as you count that is okay! You can still practice counting with me.

For telling time:

If you have or want to buy a little plastic learning clock where you can move the hour and minute hands, that can be helpful to practice otherwise you can still learn by watching if you do not have one.

Hi Families,
Welcome to my profile.

I have a variety of group classes here on Outschool, but mainly focus on 1:1 English tutoring.

Use my code for $20 off any Outschool class, not just my classes! Code: TeacherMar20

I am an experienced online English as a Second Language teacher as well as other subjects, and a mom of an elementary age child. classes.

I have been teaching online English classes to ESL students since 2012. Currently, I work for another company where I tutor children in K-12th grade depending on the subject.

I joined Outschool because I enjoy making my own classes and teaching people from around the world. As of now, I've taught someone from all continents except Antarctica and Africa.

Before teaching online, I was an Elementary substitute classroom teacher, nanny, and tutor.
I enjoy teaching and interacting with children all of ages. Some students have told me they wish class time wasn't over or how they had so much fun! I am able to be serious and also funny with puppets or other props depending on the learner's age. I am a friendly teacher with a calm presence and have seen shy students warm up to talking once they get used to me.

I have been told and know I do a great job building a connection with students and encouraging participation.

I am a published children's author of short children's stories meant for ESL students that are available in Asia. I have copies of my books within reach if there's a time to read from them like in a tutoring class. I'd be more than happy to read and discuss the short stories.

My family likes to play tennis, play games, and travel in addition to being creative and curious about life! We are looking forward to our next cruise this Summer.

I sincerely look forward to teaching your learner in one of my classes.
