배우고 그리기: 귀여운 인어들 (+ 스페인어)

In this one-time class, students will enjoy listening to a fun and engaging story about a mermaid as well as learning how to draw a simple mermaid. Students will be given the opportunity to work on reading and fluency skills by reading sections of the story aloud. (This is entirely optional and students will be asked to raise their hand if they would like to read aloud to the class). 

Next, students will be guided to draw a mermaid using step-by-step visual and auditory instructions. I will make sure to pause with each step ensuring that all students have time to complete the step before moving on. 

After all students have completed the outline of their mermaid, they will be given additional time to make their drawings unique. They can choose to draw the mermaid’s habitat, draw on accessories, or anything else their heart and mind desires!

If time allows, at the end of class, students will be given the option to share their drawings with one another. As with our reading section at the start of class, this is entirely voluntary. (Depending on the speed of the first sections of class, we may have more or less time to share out our drawings at the end of class. For classes where there is less time remaining at the end of class, I encourage students to upload a picture of their drawing to the classroom page so that other students as well as myself may view it). 

Throughout class, I will weave in the Spanish language. I will greet students in both Spanish and English. We will review the colors in Spanish as we work on our drawings. As well, we will learn a variety of Spanish words related to our content (ex: the words for mermaid, shark, seagull, treasure, and more!). After class, I will provide a list of the Spanish words covered in class so that students can practice them at home.
