Students will learn about the lives of women throughout history, learn about the times in which they lived, and participate in lively discussions about the women's impact on us and our world. Not your average social studies class!
As a fifth grade history teacher, I noticed that many inspiring women get left out of the history books and the standards I had to teach. When my students and I would dive into lessons about the past I knew my students deserved to know about some extraordinary women who paved the way, persevered, and impacted our world today. This is why I created this class. These ladies are natural born leaders, so let’s learn about them!
These women did not make history by being quiet, and they did not overcome easy challenges. The time periods in which these women lived are full of destruction, wars, civil rights, unfairness, etc. As a fifth grade history teacher I have experience teaching tough topics in an appropriate way. I will use my best judgment to keep discussions age-appropriate yet informative. Please check the schedule to determine if the woman and time-period covered is of interest to your learner.
