Welcome to our dynamic Latinx Lit middle-grade book club! In this club we'll explore enriching books crafted for ages 11-13, starting with "Barely Floating" by Lilliam Rivera and followed by some amazing award winning books. Each book spans five sessions where we delve into its themes through interactive discussions, character analyses, and creative activities. Students read chapters independently and prepare with pre-class brainstorm questions, ensuring vibrant discussions that connect the stories' cultural richness with our own experiences. My teaching style is interactive and adaptable. I begin each session by introducing the book, summarizing key points, and reading aloud to set the scene. Discussions are open and lively, focusing on cultural insights and why these narratives matter. Multimedia elements like slideshows add visual context, while follow-up activities and discussions extend learning beyond the classroom.
