유치원/1학년 1:1 지도 독서 - 음성학, 시각 단어, SOR

This ongoing class is for young Kindergarten and First Grade learners who would benefit from one on one practice with reading. Your learner will be met where they're at, and learners will practice letter sounds, phonics,  pronunciation, word families, sight words, reading fluency, and reading comprehension. Learners will have opportunities to read decodable readers independently and chorally and engage their senses in literacy activities. 

Science of Reading (SOR) is the new standard for teaching reading. It's back to basics phonics with added multi-sensory activities to help student crack the code of reading! (Orton Gillingham) 

This class is suitable for students still working on letter recognition, or who have good letter recognition, know some, most or all common letter sounds, and can or cannot read some small words (yet). The lessons will be focusing heavily on the sounds we hear in words. We will practice segmenting, blending using various techniques, and decodable readers. Learners will also work with the teacher to decode sight words instead of memorizing sight words. We will break down the sounds of the sight words and "learn by heart" the small parts of the word that are spelled differently than they sound. 

I will assess your learner's level of phonological awareness (compound words, syllables, rhyming) and will provide multi-sensory activities to practice phonemic awareness. (adding sounds (change lip to slip), deleting sounds (change cup to up), replacing sounds (change cap to slap)  The teacher often uses education.com for learning games and activities, as well as other fun and interactive games/brain breaks in her vast repertoire.
