Would you rather draw a Kawaii-style picture or play a game? In this class, you can do both. The Kawaii Art Club is a fun and engaging class designed for children between the ages of 7 and 11, where they can learn about drawing Kawaii style pictures, explore their creativity through coloring, and enjoy socializing with their peers. Students will choose various Kawaii-style drawings to create as a group. They will learn to draw creatures, sweet treats, and other items in the Kawaii style. The learners will learn about different elements such as big eyes, rounded shapes, and vibrant colors that define Kawaii art. I will demonstrate drawing the various pictures during the class, but the learners will be encouraged to add their own creativity to their drawings throughout the class. While some of the subjects will include seasonal drawings, sweet treats, fruits, animals, and maybe some mythical creatures, the learners can choose to draw other items of their choice as well.
I have taught in brick-and-mortar schools for 30 years. During this time, I have taught all academic areas as well as art and STEAM classes for grades K-5.

Students will be determining some of the conversations that we have during the course of this class. Some of the drawings will be holiday themed throughout the year. If your family does not celebrate holidays or that holiday, your child is welcome to participate by drawing a picture or two of their choice. If you let me know ahead of time, I can also modify the demonstration drawings.
No outside sources will be utilized.
