Welcome! Teacher will assign weekly topics or subjects dealing with personal feelings, goals, and fears using the memoirs of Malala Yousafazai.  The student will journal throughout the week based on the topic assignment. During class, we will open with a brief summary of Malala's life, events, obstacles, and solutions.  We will discuss how Malala's bravery can apply to our everyday life. We will then discuss our journal entries from the week.  During this time, we will practice tolerance and respect for others' feelings, opinions, and beliefs.  We will listen to the speaker and respond in kindness. During this course, your child will have many opportunities to engage in healthy discussions and learn how journaling can be a healthy outlet.
Week 1: Creating a life mission statement. Introduction to Malala Yousafzai
Week 2: What are several ways that your culture influences you? 
Week 3: What are some life lessons that you and your family live by?
Week 4: What are some obstacles that you face and how can you overcome them?
Because we will be learning about the life and accomplishments of Malala, your student does not need any prior knowledge of her situation.
