In this one-time class, I will introduce kids to Jolly Phonics, where we learn phonics with fun hand motions and songs. Each letter and letter blend in Jolly Phonics has a corresponding hand motion. In this class, we will focus on S-A-T-I-P-N plus J, B, C, and D. These letters are fun to learn first because we frequently use them in the English Language. We will also learn a couple of Jolly Phonics songs and end with a fun holiday jingle sing-along together of Jingle Bells and Up On The Rooftop. Jolly Phonics is a super fun and engaging way for kids to learn their letter sounds and blends. These foundational tools help build and strengthen early reading skills. Each letter sound and letter blend has its own dedicated hand/body movement. Kids can Jingle Jolly Phonics with me and bring letter sounds to life. Example of Jolly Phonics letter sound cards and motions. Pretend to be a mouse by wiggling your fingers on the end of your nose as whiskers and squeak i,i,i Pretend to be jello and wobble saying j,j,j Optional festive hat and jingle bells.

My name is Kerie Miller. I am a professional author/illustrator working in children's publishing and I work under the pen name Charlie Eve Ryan. I have done projects for both trade books and educational publishers. Everything from picture books to board books and magazine spreads. I also do art workshops. Clients include Page Street Kids, Astra Publishing, Amicus Ink, McGraw Hill, as well as Highlights and Ladybug Magazines.
I'm also an Early Literary Tutor for an online educational company where we work with children in charter schools all over the US. I work with children ages K-2nd grade. We help create future readers.
In the past, I have worked for a local school district as a substitute teaching assistant. I love to teach and interact with budding bookmakers, writers, and artists, while also helping students develop early math, reading, and English skills.
My classes are a place for creatives to explore new ideas and build confidence in their maker skills. A place where art, words, and fun facts collide.
