Have you ever wondered what classes are out there to help you become fluent in Japanese? I know I have. Well, I have designed this five-part beginner class (and more classes to come) to help you on your journey to become fluent. This class will not only help you learn grammar and vocabulary efficiently and effectively, but will also help you learn about the culture and the people as well. After this class, students will be able to Lesson 1: 1. Say greetings (morning, afternoon and night) 2. Say goodbye (Did you know there are different goodbyes for different age groups?) 3. Say goodnight (There are different goodnights for different age groups.) 4. Say thank you and you are welcome (There is a different thank you for different age groups.) 5. Say I'm sorry or get someone's attention (The same word has two meanings.) 6. Know what to do and say when they leave their house and when they return 7. Know what to say before they eat and after they eat 8. Address someone when they are older, younger or a teacher 9. Introduce themselves to people they meet for the first time Lesson 2: 1. Form simple sentences (ex. I am a student, I am 9 years old etc.) 2. Ask simple questions (What is your name? Where are you from? How old are you? etc.) 3. Count numbers 1-100 Lesson 3: 1. Learn expressions for when and what "ummm..." means 2. Be able to use the formal and informal yes (there are different words for different age groups) 3. Be able to say this (near me), that (near you), that (over there), or ask which one 4. Be more specific when describing things (this clock (near me), that phone (near you), that computer (over there), and ask which one). 5. Be able to ask how much something costs 6. My watch or my object Lesson 4: 1. Ask whose object is this (whose pencil or whose bag is this?) 2. Say something is here, there, over there, and ask where -be able to ask where someone is from 3. How to describe two things as being similar (I am American. He is also American.) Lesson 5: 1. Seeking confirmation (ne) 2. Exclamation (yo) 3. Learn the difference between the three pleases 4. Learn how to count (100-90,000) You will definitely enjoy this class. We will play games, have PowerPoint slides, group discussion and real life situations to solidify what to say in certain situations. I want you to feel comfortable and engaged while learning. We will also review all grammar points that have been done thus far.
I received my undergraduate degree in the Japanese language, culture, and history. I also earned my Master's degree in K-12 education. I studied abroad at Nihon University in Tokyo as well as worked as an English teacher in Niigata, Japan. I was able to see what I learned firsthand
