*****Introduction*****

In this class, students will gain a solid foundational knowledge of the characteristics of the Japanese language, which will help them gain direction, confidence and be more successful in their Japanese learning journey.

First, we will learn about the unique characteristics of the Japanese language, including sentence structure, phonetic system, writing system and more. Next, students will explore and learn some helpful tips for identifying their long-term goals for learning Japanese, as well as useful techniques for maintaining motivation. After that we will talk about some powerful language learning strategies that students can use to learn faster and more effectively. Finally, we will briefly discuss effective goal setting, time management, and planning skills.


*****Learning Objectives*****

In this class, students will:

A)  Learn the rules and patterns of Japanese sentence structure for nouns, verbs, adjectives, subjects and objects 

B) Learn about the Japanese phonetic system

C) Gain familarity with how the Japanese writing system works

D) Learn about the Japanese honorific system for polite speech in Japanese

E) Explore and identify some long-term goals for their Japanese studies

F) Learn some helpful techniques for building and maintaining motivation

G) Learn powerful language learning strategies for learning faster and more effectively

H) Briefly learn about effective goal-setting, time management and planning that they can apply to their Japanese studies


*****Teacher Qualifications*****

1) Seven years experience self-studying Japanese

2) 2.5 years experience living and working abroad in Tokyo, Japan

3) Over 2.5 years experience teaching foreign language studies in a professional setting
