This one time, 55 minute class will include the following topics in a presentation style format: How is human anatomy studied? Various body systems and regions Definition of the anatomical position and other positions that are important when studying anatomy Planes of reference (median, sagittal, frontal, transverse) Axial vs. Appendicular Skeleton Terms of reference (medial, lateral, anterior, posterior, superior, inferior, proximal, distal, internal, external, superficial, deep) Basic definitions/functions of bones, joints, muscles, nerves Osteology Terminology (bones) Types of movements at different joints in the body and MORE! Information review and questions (class participation) throughout and again at the end.

The goal for students is to feel more comfortable with anatomical terminology, and with the topics listed above.

There is a possibility that some students (especially those who have never studied human anatomy) may be sensitive to seeing human anatomy images as these images show the inside structures of the human body. Images used in this class are animated/drawings and not real photos. The images are a representation of the body structures, showing differing aspects and layers (skin, muscles, bones, nerves, etc...). Parents, please just be aware of this, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns for your learner!
