두 자릿수 곱셈 소개

When I was a young learner, double digit multiplication seemed so daunting! Multi-digit multiplication is often the first time learners are faced with having to use their newly acquired multiplication facts in a functional way.  In addition to that, when they begin working with double digit bottom factors, they are faced with having to use two math functions (multiplication AND addition) in one problem.  In this class, I do my best to break it down into less intimidating chunks. 

Once students have mastered addition, subtraction, and have a strong familiarity with their multiplication facts - they are ready to start learning about double digit multiplication.  In this one time, 45 minute course, students will be introduced to multi-digit multiplication problems.  We will begin with double-digit top factors and single digit bottom factors.  Then, we will move on to double digit top factors and double digit bottom factors.  This process can take some time.  However, when time allows, we will wrap class up with a fun game that the learners can use to practice these skills. 

By the end of class, learners will have the tools they need to master multi-digit multiplication.  It is important for mastery that learners continue to practice the skills that they have learned.  To that end, after class, I will put practice work in the classroom.  Interested learners can print out the practice sheets and work their way to mastery!  I will also include instructions to a game that can be played for practice.
