Welcome to Intro to Improv where the creativity and giggles never stop. We will play improvisation games during this class such as, "Act like an animal" (ie. Act like a dog) or "Guess how I feel". Once everyone has loosened up, we will take that one step further and do "Act like a dog, brushing their teeth." or "Act like a sad dog, brushing their teeth." We may also play "And Then", where I begin a story and pause to say "And then..." and learners decide what happens next. All of these...

I am a homeschooling mom of five kids, ranging in age from ten to nineteen. We are diving into our 6th year of homeschool and we love it. I have a passion for both education and creativity and I love combining the two whenever I can. When I'm not teaching (my kids or someone else's), I run a business based purely on creativity and art. Traveling (and 8 years of formal classes) gave me a handle on the Spanish language. I have a background in general education from 19 years of combined experience teaching in public and charter school settings, as well as tutoring one on one, ESL, and running various camps and activities. My experience ranges from childcare (infant) age all the way through high school age and includes work with neurodiverse and special needs students, as well as students with mental health issues. I have a passion for, and educational background in Graphic Art/Design, however, my degrees are AA in Liberal Studies and a BA in General Studies with a concentration in Psychology. I am also TESOL certified.
Please wear clothes that would be comfortable to move around in.
While this class is not a "Physical Education" class, it is also not a sit-down class. Students will be asked to move around and be silly. Please ensure that your learner has plenty of space to safely move about without hurting themselves or your property. I recommend bare feet (or sneakers) while participating in this class, as socks tend to slip and slide.
