수업 소개
Students will learn a portion of Hawaiian Hula Dance and Music in US history. They will also learn basic steps and Hula movements. We will learn the dance Hula Auana and Hula Kahiko but that is not the goal of this class. The goal is to have a positive introduction to the world of Polynesian Arts through Hawaiian dance. Students start with a basic understanding of Hawaiian culture and how its American history. Each lesson will encompass classroom study of past and present customs. Basic footsteps for the dance will be given with detailed instructions. Hand movements and the understanding of it in the text of the dance will be provided. Students need enough space to move freely and be seen by the teacher for corrections and suggestions. Please wait to ask questions until the end of class or type your question in the comments bar for the teacher to address without disrupting the flow of the class. There will be a question and answer segment at the end of each class or the beginning of class for previous lessons. Please take advantage of that opportunity to increase your learning of culture and dance. Each individual class will feature a different dance. Contact the instructor to see which dances will be covered for previous students.

We use hip movements, which is part of the culture. Hips sway side to side by bending the knees. This is the basic movement for Hula which is great for keeping the hip joints flexible as well as for the knees.

Information about the Hawaiian Hula during class. I can provide two practice sessions that the students can access via the course after the completion on the class as well as another dance choreography. The additional choreography video is $15 for Hawaiian Wedding Song choreography via Vimeo online.

I have been a longtime performer, student, and teacher of the Polynesian Dance Arts. I started learning the Hula because of my ancestry (related peoples) and love of dance. I have fallen in love with the grace and culture of the dance. Exposure to Hula will create a deeper understanding and appreciation of history, customs, music, and dance. Although classified as an ethnic or folk dance, Hula has a longstanding history in American culture. Not only will a child's mind be challenged by learning choreography, it is also great exercise. 리뷰
